Day out from Yarmouth

No 7 & Needles Breezer (Needles Breezer from 13th March 2010-02-09)
Why not take an extreme bus ride on the Needles Breezer to the Needles Old Battery
You can take a short walk to Warren Farm – from Alum Bay (Start along the Battery road and turn Left before you reach the first corner, opposite the house) – and enjoy outstanding famous cream teas in a farm setting.
Enjoy Freshwater Bay – Home of Dimbola Lodge well worth a visit just for the scrummy cakes.
Take a breathtaking walk from Alum Bay to Freshwater Bay (or visa versa) – across the Tennyson Down – a favourite of mine. Take a No 7 to Alum Bay or Needles Breezer to Alum Bay or the Battery. Walk past the Needles Park and take the walk along the road that heads out towards the needles themselves. (Don’t forget to look back towards Alum Bay to spot the various coloured sands in the cliff). Or the Needles Breezer right to the Needles Battery. If it is open, the Needles Battery is well worth a visit, with the most spectacular views from their tea rooms and look-out post buried within the cliff.Keep travelling up to the top of the hill, where you can divert down to the site of the first UK rocket launch- a creepy place of modern industrial architecture.
Carry on up to the top of the hill and head inland (you should see the Tennyson Monument ahead of you). You are very high up, that in clear weather you will see the most amazing views across the English Channel and back towards Weymouth. You may also pass one of the ‘signal beacon’. Carry on past Tennyson Monument towards Freshwater Bay. As you reach the road, turn left and Dimbola Lodge is just ahead of you on the left.
Afton Park also serves delicious foods and is within walking distance of Freshwater Bay (No 7) or direct from the Needles Breezer.
No 7 only
How about a relaxing stroll around the grounds of Mottistone Manor ?
Also along the Number 7 route are the villages of Shorewell and Brighstone
You can also walk the Kings & Dragon’s Histree Trail from Brighstone / Shorewell to Carisbrooke 10.1 miles. Both Carisbrooke and Brighstone / Shorewell are along the No 7 route.
Yarmouth is home to Wight Cycle Hire
Cycle routes – Yarmouth to Freshwater Route 1
Yarmouth to Chessell
You can walk to Fort Victoria along the seafront from bridge that goes west over the river Yar.
Yarmouth is also a bird-spotters paradise, with a hide located close to Yarmouth (Start heading down the walk to Afton then turn left to Mill Copse) and a level walk to Afton along the River Yar (head back inland from Yarmouth through the large car park to the start of the walk). This walk is about 2 miles long each way. There is also a Cafe at the end of this path ( called End of the Line). For bird spotters, It’s all about the birds is a fantastic resource, showing various bird spotting walks and what to see and when.
Poets & pines Histree Trail takes you round Freshwater (3.9 miles)
