Bus:
Combine a day trip to the island with a rover ticket from Hovertravel and Wightlink
No 4 (hourly) To Osborne House and East Cowes / Cowes (Via floating bridge)No 9 (every 10 mins) To Newport. Also connects to Island Steam Railway at Wootton Common (via Staplers). Butterfly World and Isle of Wight Lavender also along this (Via Staplers) route, although it is a bit of a trek along the farm track.
No 8 (twice an hour) to Bembridge & St Helens – lovely beach at St Helens (head along top end of the green, & carry on along the road, which ends up at St Helens Duver – beautiful calm beach, cafe, sea shells & interesting views across to the mainland and along the South Coast. Or head into Bembridge and see the house boats along the harbour. Bembridge itself is a hive of little shops and places to eat. Fakenham farm at St Helens ( No 8 via Seaview takes you straight there or you can walk through St Helens from No 8 via Tesco) . Bembridge is also home to the island’s only windmill (managed buy the National Trust).
For Flamingo World (Seaview Wildlife Encounter)take the No 8 Via Seaview (or walk there) on the hour from Ryde bus station.

Downs Breezer Tour (operates between mid march to October) takes you to Quarr Abbey, , &
Wootton Station (for Isle of Wight Steam Railway – check link for times), Briddlesford Farm shop & Bluebells Cafe, Robin Hill., Amazon World, Arreton Barns , The Garlic Farm and Rosemarys Vineyard . The Downs Breezer Tour also has a combined Hovertravel and bus ticket.The Island Coaster runs all the way from Ryde, via Blackgang Chine reaching Alum Bay and Yarmouth along the glorious Military Road which runs along the ‘Back of the Wight’.
Train
The island’s ‘small-but-perfectly-formed" rail line goes from Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin, a trip of 8 miles – via Brading, Sandown, & Lake. It also links up with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Smallbrook Junction. There is a combined Islander Liner island-line and steam train unlimited travel tickets. There are also special day tickets for the Wightlink & Hovertravel .

Walk East along the seafront to Seaview and even as far as Flamingo Park Pass puckpool on the way where you can take part in a crazy golf game. Or head West to Fishbourne and view the ancient ruins of Quarr Abbey .
